Oras Bluebox and concealed bath and shower systems – everything installers need to know.

Does the Oras Bluebox fit into all installation systems? And what do you need to consider when installing a water control system inside the wall? We’ve gathered a list of answers to our most frequently asked questions.

Installing concealed bath and shower systems is easy with Oras Bluebox

Hiding pipes, valves and control units behind the wall, concealed bath and shower installations are the perfect choice for creating a neat and uncluttered look in the bathroom.

But compared to classic water control systems, concealed bath and shower systems seem hard to replace and renovate.

The Oras Bluebox is designed to optimise the process for installers, from the installation of the concealed box to maintenance services and upgrades – even years after installation.

Here’s all you need to know about the Oras Bluebox for concealed bath and shower fittings.

Does the Oras Bluebox fit all installation systems?

The Oras Bluebox is universally deployable and suited for all cover parts across Oras' series.

By using the four 1/2" standard connections, the Oras Bluebox can be connected to a wide range of pipe systems and easily adjusted to specific customer requests. The Bluefix-function further guarantees flexible installation, allowing you to mount the Oras Bluebox to any surface type.

Its trim kits are available as single-lever or thermostat shower faucets for installation in baths and showers. They also work for additional electronic solutions, such as electronic washbasins in public places.

Is there a default installation position?

The basic unit is rotation-symmetric and provides the following two connections:

- 1/2" connections > 90°
- 3/4" connections > 180°

How about installation in high traffic buildings?

For high-traffic buildings, such as hotels or hospitals, where constant water flow needs to be guaranteed, a variant with an integrated shut-off valve is available (Oras 2081 G3/4).

This ensures a fast and easy maintenance process as you don’t need to shut off the entire buildings’ pipe systems if work needs to be done on one particular shower faucet.

Oras Bluebox can be installed to any surface type.

Can I adjust trim kits after the wall is closed?

Design and trim kits can be adjusted flexibly at a later stage as only the basic unit is installed in the wall.

The Oras Bluebox has a flexible installation depth of 75mm to 105mm and a telescopic diverter connection. This allows installers to connect the diverter of the trim kit securely and easily to the function unit without the need to shorten it accordingly to the installation depth.

  • Alignment of the box: With the BLUETUNE set, included in all trim kits with diverter or stop valves, you can adapt the angle of the box, e.g. in case the cover plate of the BLUEBOX is not in line with the tile line.

Thanks to BLUETUNE, you can adjust the angle of the cover plate even after the installation.

  • Switching of hot/cold inlets: With the reversal adapter (Oras 602643V),  you can switch hot and cold water inlets as well as top and bottom outlets of the piping system to fit your selected fitting. Installed behind the function unit, it ensures that the water temperature is rechanneled to the correct places.

With reversal adapter it is possible to switch the hot and cold water inlets in the Oras Bluebox installations.

  • Extension set: In case of greater installation depth, an extension set (Oras 602642V)  can be used to move the function unit out of the faucet body and further to the wall.

Can I change the design of the cover part afterwards?

Once the Oras Bluebox base unit is installed, you can easily change the design of the cover parts at any time as the Oras Bluebox is compatible with all Oras cover parts and design lines.

This way, buildings with high renovation frequency, such as hotels, can change the design without needing to change the entire concealed Oras Bluebox installation.

Does the Oras Bluebox come with different outlets?

The Oras Bluebox comes with two outlets which can be used flexibly for the spout, shower set, shower head and other applications.

Depending on your application, you can easily connect your shower set, spout or overhead shower to the relevant outlet at the top or the bottom of the Oras Bluebox.

Does water pressure affect the functionality of the Oras Bluebox diverter when using the faucet?

The Blueswitch diverter runs pressure-independent, leading to greater convenience and reliability for installers and end-users.

Precise planning and adequate instalment are key for concealed shower fittings. The mixer technology of the Oras Bluebox is designed to provide maximal assurance during the installation process and long-lasting functionality, which can be easily upgraded and renovated at any time.
